Today, WIKUS is one of the industry leaders on the world market and Europe's largest manufacturer of band saw blades.

History

WIKUS-Sägenfabrik was founded in Germany by Wilhelm Hubert Kullmann on 1 October 1958, a few weeks before his 30th birthday. In the midst of the growing German economy, brothers Wilhelm and Josef Kullmann, Mr. Bätzing and an apprentice started to manufacture band saw blades in the premises of former horse stables. Thanks to the focus on quality from the very beginning, the company experienced a very fast and rapid development, which was supported in 1974 by the decision to focus on then unrivalled technology of bimetal blades. Almost 20 years later, WIKUS came up with another major innovation and set new standards for the market with the FUTURA geometry for carbide band saw blades.

Innovation

Thanks to many bold decisions, WIKUS is a world leader in innovation in its field. Development engineers are constantly working to improve products, production processes and control mechanisms. This continuous work is repeatedly confirmed by the ISO 9001 and ISO 50001 certifications, which WIKUS was the first ever manufacturer of band saw blades to receive.

The latest innovation is a completely new production process that is unique worldwide and many technologies are exclusive to WIKUS. The new "inline" process has also won awards for its innovative approach, which, in addition to much higher efficiency, can also deliver better quality results.

Sustainability

We are taking responsibility for a future worth living. The principle of sustainability in the protection of resources and nature is an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Environmentally friendly production processes, economical use of raw materials, low water and energy consumption determine our thinking and actions. Our efforts have already been repeatedly awarded the EcoVadis bronze medal. Recent steps taken include:

• Recuperation and heat supply exclusively by secondary heat from compressors.
• Ventilation system using layered ventilation.
• Process cooling by incorporating flow and well water.
• Use of energy efficient bulbs with regard to daylight.
